Y el que no toma su cruz y no me sigue no es digno de mí. Mateo 10,38

Pensamiento, comentario, reflexión: para el discípulo, tomar la cruz no es solo aceptar dificultades u obstáculos. No es soportar una enfermedad, un trabajo duro o un pariente difícil. Es decisivo y activo. Es el resultado de una actitud que toma el discípulo. Es por eso que Jesús dijo que "tomamos" nuestra "cruz". Es fácil matar el cuerpo y casi imposible matar la voluntad del hombre. Todos los pasos dados para matar al viejo yo y vivir la nueva vida en Cristo Jesús son pasos hacia nuestro Calvario. Esto no es algo impuesto. Es lo que decidimos hacer por Jesús. Como Davies y Allen notan en su comentario, la cruz es una metáfora de la abnegación total. Esto se confirma en el siguiente verso (10:39). Aunque es una figura, debe aplicarse a la vida real como lo fue la cruz de Jesús en su vida. Cual es tu cruz? Es algo de Jesús que aún no has negado o abrazado, repudiado o defendido, entregado o retenido. Cualquier cosa de Jesús. El hecho de que nos resulte difícil aplicar esta figura a nosotros es una prueba de lo poco que conocemos a Jesús y de lo poco que tenemos al huésped para dirigir nuestras vidas. Lea el Sermón del Monte orando a Dios y pidiéndole que abra los ojos a la cruz. Si rezas con un corazón sincero y lees con la mente abierta, comenzarás a ver cruces esparcidas por todas las palabras del Señor. Thought, comment, reflection: for the disciple, taking up the cross is not just accepting difficulties or obstacles. It is not enduring illness, hard work, or a difficult relative. It is decisive and active. It is the result of an attitude that the disciple takes. That is why Jesus said that we "take" our "cross". It is easy to kill the body and almost impossible to kill the will of man. All the steps taken to kill the old self and live the new life in Christ Jesus are steps towards our Calvary. This is not an imposed thing. It is what we decided to do for Jesus. As Davies and Allen note in their comment, the cross is a metaphor for total self-denial. This is confirmed in the next verse (10:39). Although it is a figure, it must be applied to real life as the cross of Jesus was in his life. What is your cross? It is something of Jesus that you have not yet denied or embraced, repudiated or defended, delivered or retained. Anything from Jesus. The fact that it is difficult for us to apply this figure to ourselves is proof of how little we know Jesus and how little we have the guest to direct our lives.
