Y, por encima de su cabeza, pusieron su acusación por escrito: Este es Jesús, el Rey de los judíos. Mateo 27.37

Pensamiento, comentario, reflexión: Después de que Jesús fue vilipendiado por la gente y azotado violentamente, los soldados del gobernador se reunieron a su alrededor.

El propósito de esos soldados era divertirse a expensas de Jesús. Querían burlarse del "Rey de los Judios".

La Biblia dice que los soldados primero despojaron a Jesús. Luego lo vistieron con una túnica púrpura que probablemente era muy vieja y gastada. Quizás había sido la túnica desechada de un soldado.

En cualquier caso, el objetivo era representar las túnicas reales. Aquí debemos recordar que el cuerpo de Jesús fue completamente herido por los azotes.

Este simple acto de desvestirse y ponerse de nuevo debe haber sido extremadamente doloroso.

Los soldados también proporcionaron una corona de espinas y la colocaron sobre Jesús. El propósito de los soldados, además de burlarse de Jesús, era lastimarlo aún más.

Las espinas de la corona obviamente le causaron un fuerte sangrado en la frente. Pero el significado de esa corona era aún más profundo. Las espinas en la corona de Jesús estaban en conexión con las espinas que resultaron de la maldición del pecado sobre la naturaleza (Génesis 3:18). Él tomó esa maldición sobre sí mismo.

Además de la corona, los soldados le dieron una caña como cetro y comenzaron a simular un arco ante él. Lo saludaron diciendo: "¡Salve, rey de los judíos!" (Mateo 27:29).

Como si todo esto no fuera suficiente, lograron llevar esa lesión a su límite más bajo y más degradante. Comenzaron a escupir sobre Jesús. Luego, aún no satisfechos, tomaron la caña que le habían dado y procedieron a golpearlo en la cabeza mientras lo insultaban.

Finalmente, una vez más despojaron a Jesús, lo vistieron con sus ropas y lo llevaron a crucificar.

Thought, comment, reflection: After Jesus was vilified by the people and flogged, the governor's soldiers gathered around him.

The purpose of these soldiers was to have fun at the expense of Jesus. They wanted to mock the "King of the Jews".

The Bible says that soldiers first stripped Jesus. Then they dressed him in a purple robe that was probably very old and worn. Perhaps it had been a soldier's discarded robe.

In any case, the goal was to represent the royal robes. Here we must remember that the body of Jesus was completely wounded by the lashes.

This simple act of undressing and putting on again must have been extremely painful.

The soldiers also provided a crown of thorns and placed it on Jesus. The purpose of the soldiers, in addition to making fun of Jesus, was to hurt him even more.

The thorns of the crown obviously caused heavy bleeding on his forehead. But the meaning of that crown was even deeper. The thorns in Jesus' crown were in connection with the thorns that resulted from the curse of sin on nature (Genesis 3:18). He took that curse on himself.

In addition to the crown, the soldiers gave him a reed as a scepter and began to simulate a bow before him. They greeted him saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" (Matthew 27:29).

As if all this wasn't enough, they managed to push that injury to its lowest and most degrading limit. They started spitting on Jesus. Then, still not satisfied, they took the cane they had given him and proceeded to hit him on the head while insulting him.

Finally, once again they stripped Jesus, clothed him in his clothes, and led him to crucify.
