Por lo tanto, el mismo Señor te dará una señal: he aquí, una virgen concebirá, y dará a luz un hijo, y se llamará Emanuel. Isaías 7,14

Pensamiento, comentario, reflexión: por lo tanto, porque me desprecian y la señal que ahora les ofrezco, Dios, por su propia gracia, enviará un mensajero más honorable y una señal más noble.

Una señal de su liberación. Pero, ¿cómo este nacimiento, que no sucedería hasta muchas edades después, era una señal de su liberación del peligro actual? Este nacimiento prometido presuponía la preservación de esa ciudad, nación y tribu, en la cual nacería el Mesías; y por lo tanto no había razón para temer la ruina que ahora amenazaban sus enemigos.

Emmanuel, Dios con nosotros; Dios habita entre nosotros, en nuestra naturaleza, Juan 1:14.

Dios y el hombre se reunieron en una sola persona y fueron un mediador entre Dios y los hombres.

Thought, comment, reflection: therefore, because you despise me and the sign that I now offer you, God, by his own grace, will send a more honorable messenger and a more noble sign.

A sign of their release. But how was this birth, which would not happen until many ages later, a sign of his release from the present danger? This promised birth presupposed the preservation of that city, nation and tribe, in which the Messiah would be born; and therefore there was no reason to fear the ruin that his enemies now threatened.

Emmanuel, God with us; God dwells among us, in our nature, John 1:14.

God and man came together in one person and were a mediator between God and men.

For the purpose of these words, it is not so much about informing the name by which Christ should commonly call, but rather describing its nature and position.
