Pensamiento, comentario, reflexión: “Él ciertamente tomó nuestras enfermedades y nuestros dolores; y lo consideramos afligido, herido por Dios y oprimido. Pero fue traspasado por nuestras transgresiones y terreno por nuestras iniquidades; el castigo que nos trae paz fue sobre él, y por su llaga fuimos nosotros curados ”(Isaías 53: 4-5).

Para comprender el significado de los textos bíblicos, debemos comenzar con el contenido y el contexto en sí, y luego considerar otros pasajes que aclaren el significado.

Estos versículos hablan del sufrimiento de Jesús cuando vino al mundo para salvarnos. Fue oprimido, castigado y asesinado. Este pasaje habla principalmente del sacrificio que Jesús hizo por los pecados de los hombres: "Cuando da su alma como ofrenda por el pecado ..." (53:10); "... mi Siervo, el Justo, con su conocimiento, justificará a muchos, porque sus iniquidades lo afectarán" (53:11); "... sin embargo, tomó sobre sí el pecado de muchos e intercedió por los transgresores" (53:12).

Las citas de este pasaje en el Nuevo Testamento claramente apoyan este entendimiento, ya que a menudo se cita a Isaías 52: 13-53: 12 para hablar sobre la obra redentora de Cristo (cf. En el sentido de que el sufrimiento entró en el mundo a causa del pecado (Génesis 3: 17-19), e incluso la muerte física se convirtió en una consecuencia secundaria de la transgresión del hombre (1 Corintios 15: 21-22), Jesús dará una victoria total sobre el dolor de esta vida. Mateo 8: 16-17 usa las curaciones físicas realizadas por Jesús como evidencia de su papel como el verdadero Mesías y Salvador. Jesús curó enfermedades físicas para mostrar una señal de su habilidad para sanar nuestra enfermedad espiritual: “Ahora, para que sepas que el Hijo del Hombre tiene autoridad sobre la tierra para perdonar pecados - le dijo al paralítico: Te mando: Levántate , toma tu cama y ve a tu casa ”(Marcos 2: 10-11). Sería un error colocar la curación física por encima de la misión principal de Jesús.

Isaías 53: 4-5 no es una promesa de cura para todas las enfermedades físicas de los fieles. ¡Es mucho más que eso! ¡Es una promesa curar nuestro problema principal, el pecado!

Thought, comment, reflection: “He certainly took our diseases and our pains; and we consider him afflicted, wounded by God and oppressed. But he was pierced for our transgressions and ground for our iniquities; the punishment that brings us peace was upon him, and by his stripes we were healed ”(Isaiah 53: 4-5).

To understand the meaning of biblical texts, we must start with the content and context itself, and then consider other passages that clarify the meaning.

These verses speak of the suffering of Jesus when he came into the world to save us. He was oppressed, punished, and killed. This passage speaks mainly of the sacrifice that Jesus made for the sins of men: "When he gives his soul as an offering for sin ..." (53:10); "... my Servant, the Righteous One, with his knowledge, will justify many, because his iniquities will affect him" (53:11); "... yet he took upon himself the sin of many and interceded for transgressors" (53:12).

Quotations from this passage in the New Testament clearly support this understanding, as Isaiah 52: 13-53: 12 is often quoted to speak about the redemptive work of Christ (cf. Romans 10:16; 15:21; John 12:38; 1 Peter 2: 22-25; Acts 8: 32-33; Luke 22:37; etc.) By Jesus' wounds, we were healed, we received the solution to our main problem: sin, which brings death spiritual, separation from God

In the sense that suffering entered the world because of sin (Genesis 3: 17-19), and even physical death became a secondary consequence of man's transgression (1 Corinthians 15: 21-22), Jesus will give a total victory over the pain of this life. Jesus healed physical illnesses to show a sign of his ability to heal our spiritual illness: “Now, so that you know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins - he said to the paralytic: I command you: Get up, take your bed and go home "(Mark 2: 10-11). It would be a mistake to place physical healing above Jesus' primary mission.

Isaiah 53: 4-5 is not a promise of cure for all the physical ills of the faithful. It's much more than that! It is a promise to cure our main problem, sin!
