Sabemos de amor en esto: que él dio su vida por nosotros, y nosotros debemos dar nuestras vidas por nuestros hermanos. 1 juan 3:16

Pensamiento, Comentario, Reflexión: La palabra Dios no está en el original. El apóstol lo omitió, así como María omite el nombre privado cuando le dice al jardinero: "Señor, si lo has llevado desde aquí"; y para la iglesia, cuando ella dice: "Que me bese con los besos de su boca", Cantar de los Cantares 1: 2; En ambos lugares hay un lenguaje, un lenguaje muy enfático, incluso en silencio. Declara cuán plenamente los pensamientos fueron poseídos por el bendito y glorioso sujeto. También expresa la dignidad y simpatía superlativas de la persona, como si Él, y solo Él, fuera, o mereciera ser, conocido y admirado por todos.

Porque dio su vida, no solo por los pecadores, sino también por nosotros en particular. De esta verdad creída, de esta bendición disfrutada, crece el amor de nuestros hermanos, que bien puede admitirse como evidencia de que nuestra fe no es una ilusión.

Thought, Commentary, Reflection: The word God is not in the original. The apostle omitted it, just as Mary omits the private name when she says to the gardener: "Lord, if you have taken him from here"; and for the church, when she says, "Kiss me with the kisses of her mouth," Song of Solomon 1: 2; In both places there is a language, a very emphatic language, even in silence. It declares how fully the thoughts were possessed by the blessed and glorious subject. It also expresses the superlative dignity and sympathy of the person, as if He, and only He, were, or deserved to be, known and admired by all.

Because he gave his life, not only for sinners, but also for us in particular. From this believed truth, from this enjoyed blessing, grows the love of our brothers, which may well be admitted as evidence that our faith is not an illusion.

Now, it shows the extent to which Christian charity extends, to the point that, according to the example of Christ, each man forgets to provide and help his brothers.
