Pensamiento, Comentario, Reflexión: Esta es la obra de Dios. Habían hablado de obras que Cristo les recuerda a una obra, es decir, la fe; con lo cual quiere decir que todo lo que los hombres emprenden sin fe es inútil e inútil, pero que solo la fe es suficiente, porque solo Dios requiere que creamos. Porque aquí hay un contraste implícito entre la fe y las obras y esfuerzos de los hombres; como si dijera: Los hombres trabajan para nada, cuando tratan de agradar a Dios sin fe, porque, por así decirlo, por supuesto, no avanzan hacia la meta. Este es un pasaje notable que muestra que, aunque los hombres se atormentan miserablemente a lo largo de sus vidas, aún pierden su dolor si no tienen fe en Cristo como la regla de sus vidas. Los que infieren de este pasaje que la fe es un regalo de Dios están equivocados; porque Cristo ahora no muestra lo que Dios produce en nosotros, sino lo que desea y requiere de nosotros.

Pero podemos encontrar extraño que Dios apruebe solo la fe; porque el amor al prójimo no debe ser despreciado, y otros ejercicios de religión no pierden su lugar y honor. Por lo tanto, aunque la fe puede ocupar la posición más alta, aún otras obras no son superfluas. La respuesta es fácil. porque la fe no excluye el amor al prójimo o cualquier otra buena obra, porque contiene a todos los que están dentro. La fe se llama la única obra de Dios, porque a través de ella poseemos a Cristo, y así nos convertimos en hijos de Dios, para que Él nos gobierne por su Espíritu. Entonces, debido a que Cristo no separa la fe de sus frutos, no necesitamos preguntarnos si lo hace el primero y el último.

Siempre debe recordarse que, para tener una percepción completa del poder de la fe, necesitamos entender qué es Cristo, en quién creemos y por qué nos lo dio el Padre. Es un sofisma ocioso, con el pretexto de este pasaje, mantener ese somos justificados por las obras, si la fe lo justifica, porque también se llama trabajo. Primero, es suficientemente claro que Cristo no habla con precisión cuando llama. la fe es una obra, así como Pablo hace una comparación entre la ley de la fe y la ley de las obras (Romanos 3:27). Segundo, cuando decimos que los hombres no están justificados por las obras, nos referimos a las obras con el mérito del cual los hombres pueden obtener el favor de Dios. Ahora la fe no trae nada a Dios, pero, por el contrario, coloca al hombre ante Dios como vacío y pobre, para que pueda ser lleno de Cristo y su gracia. Es, por lo tanto, si la expresión nos lo permite, una obra pasiva, a la que no se puede pagar ninguna recompensa, y no confiere al hombre ninguna otra justicia que la que recibe de Cristo.

Thought, Commentary, Reflection: This is the work of God. They had spoken of works that Christ reminds them of a work, that is, faith; By which he means that everything that men undertake without faith is useless and useless, but that only faith is sufficient, because only God requires us to believe. Because here there is an implicit contrast between faith and the works and efforts of men; as if to say: Men work for nothing, when they try to please God without faith, because, so to speak, of course, they do not advance towards the goal. This is a remarkable passage that shows that although men torment themselves miserably throughout their lives, they still lose their pain if they do not have faith in Christ as the rule of their lives. Those who infer from this passage that faith is a gift from God are wrong; because Christ now does not show what God produces in us, but what he wants and requires of us.

But we may find it strange that God approves only faith; because love of neighbor should not be despised, and other exercises of religion do not lose their place and honor. Therefore, although faith may occupy the highest position, still other works are not superfluous. The answer is easy. because faith does not exclude love of neighbor or any other good deed, because it contains everyone inside. Faith is called the only work of God, because through it we possess Christ, and thus we become children of God, so that He governs us by his Spirit. So, because Christ does not separate faith from its fruits, we need not ask whether the first and last do.

That you believe in the one whom he sent. What is the importance of the word believe? We explain in the third chapter. It must always be remembered that, to have a full perception of the power of faith, we need to understand what Christ is, in whom we believe and why the Father gave it to us. It is an idle sophism, under the pretext of this passage, to maintain that we are justified by works, if faith justifies it, because it is also called work. First, it is clear enough that Christ does not speak accurately when he calls. faith is a work, just as Paul makes a comparison between the law of faith and the law of works (Romans 3:27). Second, when we say that men are not justified by works, we refer to works with the merit from which men can obtain God's favor. Now faith brings nothing to God, but, on the contrary, it places man before God as empty and poor, so that he can be filled with Christ and his grace.
