Y tomando el pan y dando gracias, lo partió y se lo dio a él, diciendo: Este es mi cuerpo, que tú has dado; Haz esto en mi memoria. San Lucas 22,19

Esto es para recordarme, que los judíos, al comer la Pascua, hicieron esto para representar los sufrimientos del Mesías, como es evidente en el tratado Pesachim, folio 119, citado por Schoettgen.

¿Por qué llamamos a esto el gran salón? (es decir, el himno compuesto por varios salmos, que cantaron después de la cena pascual). Resp. Porque en él están contenidas estas cinco cosas:

El éxodo de Egipto.

La división del Mar Rojo.

La promulgación de la ley.

La resurrección de los muertos. Y

Los sufrimientos del Mesías.

El primero se menciona, el Salmo 114.1, cuando Israel salió de Egipto,

El segundo en el Salmo 114.3, el mar vio y huyó.

El tercero en el Salmo 114.4, las montañas saltaron como ovejas,

El cuarto en el Salmo 116.9, caminaré delante del Señor en la tierra de los vivos.

El quinto en el Salmo 115.1: No a nosotros, Señor, no a nosotros, sino a tu nombre, da gloria; por tu misericordia y por tu verdad. Ver la nota en Mateo 26, 30.

En resumen, y tomó pan, a saber, algún tiempo después, cuando terminó la cena, donde habían comido el cordero pascual.

Este es mi cuerpo, ya que acababa de celebrar la cena de Pascua, que se llamaba Pascua, por lo que, en el mismo lenguaje figurativo, llama a este pan un cuerpo. The fifth in Psalm 115.1: Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name, give glory; for your mercy and for your truth. See note in Matthew 26, 30.
